‘The blue hour is a particular moment of the day when the dying light has not yet given way to darkness, or the dawn has not yet broken the veil of night’. The moment of the deep silence, you can experience the best on the countryside. It’s frightening and beautiful in the same moment. Transition between live en death, dreams and awakening, circular and never-ending. I have translated this phenomenon into the object through the dry flower petals,…still beautiful after corporeal wilting, but the essence, aroma and their breath is still alive. There is no death, just a transition with silence in-between. The scent inside my work I could describe as dark and fresh. Wet earth, warm aroma’s of exotic flowers and herbs with a hint of ozonic undertones. Inspired by the first episode from the movie ‘Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle' directed by Eric Rohmer (1987). The film consists of four episodes in the relationship of two young women: Reinette, a country girl, and Mirabelle, a Parisian. The first episode, L'Heure Bleue/The Blue Hour, recounts their meeting, and Reinette's wish to share the Blue Hour, a moment of silence between the natural sounds of the night and the dawn' |
