Monique Lecouna
'The memory is my precious place. It's the place where things happen for a second time. To remember is to rebuild. The memory is a creative process, each time we're remembering, we're rewriting that memory, it's a reinterpretation of what has happened. Our memory rebuilds overlapping, juxtaposing the memories until a new story is created, a fiction of what it was. In that story we can find fissures, interstices where details and images go missing. In my works, I remember through fragments of objects that end up conforming a new one' |
Bio:
Monique Lecouna is a visual artist from Argentina. Born in Buenos Aires she studied at the National University of Fine Arts and completed her postgraduate studies in 'Painting and Visual Arts'. Nowadays, Jewellery is her way of expressing the language that she chooses. She always starts pieces from objects that she unexpectedly finds, giving them a new life. These objects help to tell a story. Her works are a reflection of the apparently insignificant, what is imperfect. Since 2013 she has participated in many exhibitions in different parts of the world. https://moniquelecouna.com/ |
