PCOJW
22nd to 26th September
This was our first ever Jewellery Week ...
We thought it a shame given that we have members from all parts of the globe that we should limit ourselves to 1 city or 1 country ... therefore because of this along with the current covid climate, we decided to stage a Jewellery Week on-line that could include all parts of the globe. After 10 months of planning we were very proud to have had over 50 makers exhibit throughout the 5 days via our website (created by the amazing Juan Riusech). This is still live and features 5 different exhibitions. During the week we had participation on every day via Instagram along with a live event via youtube every evening. We were also proud and privileged to work with a number of fabulous partners who, along with their amazing support, also all donated fabulous prizes along with promotion via their own on-line platforms ... for this we are eternally grateful and still excited by ... Thankyou to all who took part with us, supported us and viewed what we were up to during a very amazing, exciting and slightly surreal week !! xxx |

'Precious Things In Time Of Uncertainty'
The Physical Show @Alliages (Lille) ...
12th June to 18th September
What is precious to you ?
What do you hold close ? What do you return to again and again to comfort, nourish and give you strength ? What would you keep if everything else was taken away from you? What precious thing(s) matter to you above all else ? In these strange times ... of what we can and can't do ... of what is normal in this newly changed world ... these times that give rise to emotions ... of fear, joy, thankfulness, grief, despair, sadness and even peace ... what is it that keeps us wanting to be in this world What keeps us from running away ... what keeps us sane .... what is it that will keep us wanting to exist and even maybe create things ? Selected members of Precious.Collective have created new work that investigates these questions, exploring what is Precious to them. |

This the 3rd Precious.Collective group show brings together 22 of our members unique response to the idea of preciousness of place:
Where do you go to when the world's mayhem crowds you and you need to escape for a bit ... where do you go? Perhaps you go there every day; every week; every year; every decade or once in a lifetime - maybe even somewhere you know you'll never see again. It might not be a physical place. It might be a place from memory; a safe place that makes you smile and breathe the moment you think about it. It might be the place in your head that you escape to while creating your work. Wherever it is, it's precious to you. Below is some of the work on show from our 22 exhibiting members.

PRECIEUX !?, an exhibition proposed by
PRECIOUS COLLECTIVE & ALLIAGES, curated by Lynne Speake. The 'Precious.Collective' has evolved organically since November 2017 into a collective of makers from around the globe, a community that enables dialogue and support between makers and countries. With over 120 members from 30 countries and representing all stages of a jewellery career (from students to world-renowned artists) the Precious Collective is all about connection and conversation. What binds Precious members together is their ambiguous relationship to notions of what ‘precious’ is or creating in ways that challenge traditional jewellery making through materials, techniques or concepts. 30 members work has been chosen for this the second exhibition from this dynamic collective. ' Précieux!?' is truly a celebration of Art Jewellery and what can be interpreted as Precious. |
