‘A snippet of a snapshot of the city’
|
3rd to 27th September 2026
Celebratory Party: Friday 11th September at 2pm ConceptWhat would Mancunian materiality look like?
How can the city influence or instruct our making? How can jewellery echo a sense of place? This project encourages you to push your attitudes towards making, to challenge and capture a sense of place that is evolved from a snippet of a snapshot of the city. What image will call to you and how will this expose your thinking into materiality? Mancunian: manˈkjuːniən noun: Mancunian; plural noun: Mancunians ........ a native or inhabitant of Manchester in NW England. adjective: Mancunian ........ relating to Manchester. Words credit: Mark Mcleish |
Members of Precious have been invited to make 3 new mixed media Art Jewellery works inspired by photographs we have taken from the viewpoints of a Mancunian (Mark Mcleish) and a tourist to Manchester (Lynne Speake)
This project will encourage our members to push their attitudes towards making, a challenge to capture a sense of place evolved from a snippet of a
snapshot of the city.
What image will they have chosen and how will it develop their thinking into materiality?
