Juan Harnie
I added layer after layer of glue on top of each other to create these hive/egg like shapes.
In nature, these function as a safe haven for animals or to protect baby animals, just as my home is doing for me during this pandemic. The repetitiveness of adding hundreds of layers of glue was also a soothing and almost hypnotizing process; a way of escaping from these strange times. |
Bio:
Juan Harnie is a 27-year old Jewellery designer/maker from Hasselt, Belgium. He studied 'Architectural and Interior Arts' in Brussels but the scale of things that needed to be designed troubled him. Juan found that he liked to work on a small scale; where the smallest detail has a big influence on the overall piece. For this reason he then turned to Jewellery design to study at the 'MAD-faculty' in Hasselt, Belgium where he completed a Bachelors and Masters degree. The use of materials, which aren’t normally associated with Jewellery is what fascinates Juan the most. https://juanharnie.weebly.com |
